Yesterday I announced The Sequence: Handstand Classes on @codyapp! This series presents you with the skills to unlock some of the most recognizable handstands in “The Contortionist” video from Q by Equinox that so many of you have asked me about: One-Legged hop, Pike, and Press to Handstand! codyapp.com/thesequence (link in bio) This 26-day program will teach you the foundational elements of handstands and help you learn the transitions shown in the video. The series consists of five 30-40 minute yoga flow classes, each designed to build upper body strength, hand and shoulder alignment, as well as to develop the muscle memory to get inverted. HOME is our favorite place on earth (this was taken right out front!) That said, we love being able to travel, meet new people, and experience new places. Kids live in the present moment unconsciously and without abandon. As adults we log countless encounters learning to "defend" ourselves from the world and those around us. Practices like #AcroYoga and #partneryoga ask us to learn to trust again. I'm so lucky I can call this beautiful, talented and smart little woman my daughter. Taylor lives in the moment at all times, and for this, your mom and I thank you so much kiddo! #MakingShapes with my hubby is always an adventure. Dice has never felt comfortable in front of a camera and I literally spent my teenage years in front of one. We use to fight every time we did a photoshoot together. He would retreat into his discomfort shell and I would take his reaction personally. Over the past few years we've both learned how to meet in the middle by practicing compassion for one another. We love the yoga asana practice but are so thankful for the yoga that exists in our relationship and daily lives. When we teach together, no matter the state of our emotions before the workshop, doing what we love together usually irons things out. Someone once commented on a pic of me in this very same pose saying, "don't you ever do anything else?" Im all for expanding my comfort zone but have also worked long and hard on finding some stillness in my yoga practice. So, my 'go to' inversion is usually this one because the backbend helps me find my balance quickly and...it just feels darn good (shouldn't that be the main goal in our practice? Not what someone else thinks!) I'm not saying this is easy but through practice and mind body connection, it is achievable!
