When I announced my @codyapp The Sequence: Handstand Classes last month I was so overwhelmed by the response that I wanted to have a 48-hour sale for anyone who may have missed it the first time! Thank you to the 1,200 people who are training with me! codyapp.com/thesequence (link in bio) This month-long series presents you with the techniques to unlock some of the most recognizable handstands in my “The Contortionist” video from Q by Equinox: one-legged hop, pike, and press to handstand! One of the best ways to learn new movements is in a class-like structure, and that's exactly how I designed this plan. In order to build a solid base to grow your handstand practice, it’s imperative to work on the foundations and basic elements, so we will spend the beginning of this series developing hand and shoulder alignment and getting your core, hips and pelvis to work in unison. Once you’re ready, the plan progresses on to transitions where we will focus our attention on inversions and 30-40 minute practice flows. In the beginning of a relationship, when all you can feel is how amazing the other person is, you wonder how other people take their partners for granted. But after a few years, work, kids, stress...you find yourself doing exactly that! We've been experimenting with other forms of movement lately. Pilates (really crack Pilates), calisthenics, functional movement...we've even been doing the Insanity workouts for the past week! But in these last two days filming with @codyapp, I've practiced for a total of 12 hours and, although I'm tired, I'm reminded of how much my body LOVES YOGA! It's not just the physical though, my mind is so present...I actually might be experiencing that Yoga high that made me fall in love with Yoga 17 years ago! #SelfReflection takes true strength and courage from deep within. To truly self reflect, one must be willing to be completely honest with one's self and those around them, without being attached to good or bad results. Looking in the mirror is easy for some, but maybe they are only seeing what they want/need to see, rather than what is truly in front of them. I'm struggling with this everyday, trying to be the best father, husband and yogi I can be. Anyone else feel this way sometimes???
