I love #yoga but #Pilates kicked my butt yesterday...and also made it a bit more toned too! A student first, teacher second, I love refining my handstand and implementing different techniques that might feel totally weird at first but, ultimately better for my body. I use to let my butt stick out too far in this wide leg variation, which makes it easier to balance by counter-balancing my weight. But now, I try to lift my tailbone and root my femurs, engaging my core more. So hard but so good. This summer, I had the honor of traveling to the enchanting, timeless temples of Thailand with four dear friends, who happen to be sincere yogis as well. "Sincere" is my definition of "advanced". It just so happens that they are all capable of finding stillness in poses that would be considered advanced, but for me, their sincerity is what catches my lens and heart. Be fierce...when your daughter allows. Today is our 10 yr old daughter's first basketball game. I planned on wearing these pants and cheering as loud as possible. But she tells me that is embarrassing. Yup, she's now at that age. So, I will wear a 'daughter approved' outfit and cheer, but not too loud. I think I'm a cool mom, but apparently, just saying that puts me in the 'trying too hard' category. #thisismyyoga ... I am serious about my Yoga practice but my practice doesn't have to be serious. I practice when I can and welcome my kids (and dogs) to join in whenever. If I had it my way, I would practice at home all of the time (I hate being away from my kiddos). But my mom told me that when I'm away, if she tells #babysyd that I'm doing Yoga, he's cool with it. Ps...still loving my happy yoga pants @liquidoactive ...what is 'your Yoga'?;
