Don't let the grey stop you from shining For as long as I can remember, I've been making lists. I list EVERYTHING. But most importantly, since I was a little girl, I would make lists of things that make me happy when I'm feeling down. It may seem simple or silly but honestly nothing has been as consistently capable of making me remember & appreciate the little things that make me smile ️ forever grateful Find ways to keep your passion & enthusiasm alive.; -
Day 90/100: It's getting harder each day to take advantage of this post surgery free pass to sit and watch movies, resting. I've watched movie upon movie, caught up on Game of Thrones (which pains me as badly as the appendicitis!), finished a book, started a book, worked, & now I knit. Thanks to Mama Starling I've begun knitting for monks- first time knitting a beanie for me- & it is so nice to feel useful for a little, while I'm confined in my own injured body. I'm definite happiest when I'm hustling, in any shape or form ️ Day by day. Healthy cannot come soon enough. #100HappyDays; -

Day 89/100: Mama Starling has been so worried about my post surgery diet that she went out & bought all the fruit she could find This is really only a small selection- we keep the house fully stocked with fruit all year round but never have more people been so eager to peel it all for me Another day of healing. Finished reading another book, watched a bunch of movies, knit, & worked on some side projects Can't stop the hustle. #100HappyDays;

Day 88/100: Didn't get to post my #100HappyDays post yesterday between all the trying to eat real food, napping, & showering on my own but I was a very happy girl Especially because the #SkinnyFatKid came in to visit ️ With him here I think this whole not being able to laugh thing may actually kill me if the lack of an appendix doesn't #blessed; -
I was raised to be very self efficient. To take care of myself & others & to never really need much. Somewhere in learning all that I lost sight of the importance of knowing how & when to ask for help. It's been a slow process working on relearning that it's okay to ask for help when I've needed it these past few years but these past few days- I don't think an hour goes by that I don't have to ask for help. I can barely do a thing on my own & even though it's incredibly frustrating I'm determined to not be discouraged. Instead I am so thankful for those who are helping me BE & giving me the space & understanding to ask for help, be helped, & do what I can on my own Healing 101.; -
Hospital update ️Feeling much better today They've unhooked my IV & pain meds ( good bye happy button) but I'm finally eating semi solid foods (& gummy bears) surrounded by all these lovely gifts ... AND I took a shower all on my own- feels like such an accomplishment today! If all goes well, I should be able to go home tonight ️ Still can't laugh but feeling good on my path to recovery Thank you all for the continuous messages of love & support every bit helps!; -
All things in due time. Telling myself this everyday (especially now). The Universe has great plans for you, you just need to #TrustTheJourney ; -

Day 87/100: Feeling so incredibly loved & fortunate today thanks to all of YOU. Thank you all so very much for your kind comments, texts, calls, & visits. They've made me SO happy today I've barely noticed the pain! (The happy button that dispenses my pain meds helps too haha but I swear it's mostly all of you!) And good news, I can stand on my feet & make it around the room with some help See, speedy recovery in progress So again, thank you all from the bottom of my appendix-less body & my heart ️ You sure know how to make a girl feel loved. PS. Totally using my lack of an appendix as leverage with Mama Starling so I can get a puppy #100HappyDays; -

Day 86/100: Didn't get to post last night because I was in so much pain. Did manage to take this picture though (shows how hopeful I was that my severe stomach pains were just an ulcer...) checked into Emergency Room number one at 9pm in pain. After poking prodding & blood tests they said I probably had appendicitis but would need a CT scan to verify. On to Emergency Room number two. Now in much more pain, more poking & prodding & needles (have I ever mentioned I'm scared of needles?) & blood tests followed by a CT scan... I was the lucky owner of an infected appendix An hour later at 1:30am in the worst pain I've ever felt they ushered me in to prep for surgery. This is probably a good time to mention how much I dislike hospitals. It's hard for me to visit people in hospitals let alone be the one admitted... I was terrified. I've never been through surgery, never slept at a hospital. But the always amazing Mama Starling stood by my side until they ushered me into the OR. And as she pointed out, at least I looked nice because I got my hair & nails done earlier in the day - the eternal optimist that one. So. Surgery went well they say. I woke up in the recovery room at 4:30 in a daze with a little button to push whenever I felt pain. And who would not call this a happy day? I am ALIVE. The human body is resilient & I am strong. The doctors said I should recover quickly because I eat clean & work out Feeling extremely blessed that it wasn't something worse, that I have access to good clean hospitals, & amazing people in my life #100HappyDays; -
