For the big HAWAII STATE CHAMPIONSHIP HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAME, my cousin and long time stunt double @samoanstuntman asked me if I would shoot a surprise video to motivate the team hours before they took the field for battle. Main points I wanted players of Kahuku High School to know were to never underestimate the strength and skill of their opponent, lace 'em up like men and go handle business and most importantly.... HAVE FUN. Later that night, Kahuku defeated St. Louis 39-14, with a perfect 13-0 season and NEW Hawaii State Champs. I played high school football in Hawaii (McKinley HS) and have great love and respect for all the programs throughout the state. Congratulations to all the Kahuku players, Head Coach Vai Tata/coaching staff and especially the amazing Laie community for the powerful love and support they have for Kahuku. Here's a very cool Thanksgiving story.. A year and half ago our production company #SevenBucksProductions partnered with HBO Documentary Films to produce a very special film about one of the most hard core and successful boot camp prisons in the world - #MiamiDadeBootcamp. They break these youth offenders down - physically and mentally - in harsh ways they never imagined. In hopes that one day they get released back into the free world better men. Cadet Alan Rios @saint_rios is one of those men. Almost one year after being released, he has not only one, but multiple jobs and one of which (completely unbeknownst to me) is working as an extra on our show #BALLERS. I was surprised when I saw him, gave him a big ass hug and said "Proud of you for turning your life around and I'm happy you're here". With a big smile he responded to me in a way that only cadets are allowed to respond when they were locked up..."Sir, yes sir." I was a wayward kid too, getting arrested multiple times starting at 13yrs old, so seeing a young man like Alan turn his life around always strikes a chord with me. It's never easy and nothing comes free in life, and we're both grateful for second chances. Our HBO documentary is called #RockAndAHardPlace and I'm excited for you guys to see it.
