We got our Animals of Instagram 2015 calendar! I had a flick through and the photos in there are just way too cute, it's amazing to see some of the pets from the IG animal community in there. There are times when you just have so much to do... but instead you lay down and have a nap. That's what Ginny's doing here. She has so many pigeons to bark at and so many of my socks to steal and hide, but instead she's just gonna nap.; -

There's a reason why shelters and rehoming groups for animals are very busy during the first few months of a new year, so many dogs and puppies are given as presents for Christmas with little thought to what owning a dog actually entails. A dog is a big responsibility and a big commitment, a dog is a living creature that will need to be trained correctly and loved a lot. I know many people do get dogs for Christmas and they do an amazing job loving and caring for that dog, I know not everyone who will get a dog will give that dog up to a shelter when they realise what it takes to own a dog... but the sad fact is there are dogs and pups that will be given as gifts this Christmas and then they'll be taken to a shelter just a few months later because the people giving that dog up didn't realise how difficult it may be owning a dog, they didn't realise toilet training a dog may take a very long time or that puppies can chew a lot of stuff up very quickly, so they give that dog to a shelter... or even worse in some cases abandon that dog. Again, I know many people get pets for Christmas and they love and cherish that pet for life, but for some pets this isn't the case. If a dog is on your Christmas wishlist this year then please put a lot of thought into what breed you would get and what it takes to train and care for a dog, and remember there are many, many senior dogs, dogs and puppies in shelters looking for a forever home right now, don't forget about animal adoption this time of year either. A dog is for life, not just for Christmas.; -

This is a repost from @maximilentine on Chewy, the adorable dog who needed a lot of help after being used as a bait dog and being left at a shelter. --- "Hey guys! Let's all give a big thanks to Jennifer Lee Pryor of Pyror's Planet and Cheri Lucas of Second Chance at Love Humane Society for saving this boy. The top left picture is from when he first came to the shelter, the bottom right is after he was saved. However, he of course has medical issues due to be used as a bait dog. So far, he has been to one vet and is set to be seen by a specialist. There are TWO ways to donate and help Chewy: OPTION 1: You can directly send donations to jennifer@pryorsplanet.com. (This is all through PayPal, so you can do it through the PayPal app on your phone or computer and direct your donation to that email address. OPTION 2: Visit www.SecondChanceLove.org. This is how Ginny's fur has grown over the last few months. It's been over 4 months since Ginny had to have a few stitches after being attacked by another dog during a walk, and just over 3 months since those stitches came out. It won't be long now until she has her fully grown long and scruffy fur style back ; -
Big smiles from Ginny after another successful day of stick fetching, tennis ball destroying, treat eating and napping. Hope everyone had (or is having) a great day too!; -
It was really cold on our morning walk so Ginny went on a quick stick rescuing mission and then back home to refuel on bacon treats ;
