วันที่ 3 มี.ค. ของทุกปีเป็นวันเด็กพิการโลก เพื่อให้ประชาชนและผู้ที่เกี่ยวข้องได้ตระหนัก และรู้จักความพิการแต่กำเนิด แนวทางการป้องกัน และการดูแลที่ถูกต้อง จากสถิติของหน่วยงานป้องกันโรคติดต่อของสหรัฐอเมริกา พบว่าร้อยละ 3-6 ของเด็กทั่วโลกที่เกิดมาพร้อมกับความพิการแต่กำเนิดที่รุนแรง และในบางประเทศ ความพิการแต่กำเนิดยังเป็นหนึ่งในสาเหตุหลักของการเสียชีวิตของทารก และเด็กเล็ก ส่วนผู้ที่ยังมีชีวิตอยู่ก็ดำเนินชีวิตอยู่ด้วยความลำบาก สำหรับในประเทศไทยภาวะปากแหว่งเพดานโหว่เป็นความพิการในทารกแต่กำเนิดที่พบบ่อยที่สุดเป็นอันดับ 3 รองจากโรคหัวใจพิการแต่กำเนิด และแขนขาพิการ (ที่มา: http://bit.ly/1Shra1I) ร่วมบริจาคช่วยเหลือน้องๆ ที่มีภาวะปากแหว่งเพดานโหว่กันเนื่องในวันเด็กพิการโลกได้ที่ http://bit.ly/1NewJfs ค่ะ Today, March 3 is World Birth Defects Day. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness about birth defects, develop and implement primary prevention programs, and expand referral and care services. According to the CDC, in some countries birth defects remain one of the leading causes of death for infants and young children. Every year an estimated 3-6% of infants worldwide are born with a serious birth defect. Those who survive and live with these conditions are at an increased risk for lifelong disabilities. In Thailand, the top three mostly founded birth defects are congenital heart defects, limb disabilities and clefts, respectively.
